As a coach, I want to keep high standards of movements and provide everyone with a safe and enjoyable environment at the box. Based on the rep scheme and standards of the workout, I want to hold everyone accountable and make sure scaling and intensity are prescribed properly. As far as accountability, there is a term called "rep shaving" where athletes perform lower reps than prescribed. I understand it is common to miss count, but I would be doing a disservice to the entire class if I let it be okay to post on WODIFY a score that is not accurate. I will continue to remind people of standards and reps as I am looking at form AND counting reps to gauge intensity. I usually count out loud next to the athlete and usually this works. But I just want to remind everyone, we do love humility, accuracy and integrity. CrossFit is a sport of integrity and our coaches shouldn't have to count everyone's reps. It is honorable to no rep yourself if the movement is not up to standard. Whether we like it or not, we are being held accountable, and this is a GREAT thing. We have each others back, we are not merely looking at you behind your back. Be good and honest with yourself with the help of positive feedback. Together, we are growing and making each other better. It is okay to have a slow day many times. In the end, you can accurately assess your levels since we ALL are posting on WODIFY all of the reps we earn through hard work and integrity.
